Our History

Over 100 years of success.

APPS was established in 1921 by the intrepid Mrs Maud Trenery. Our determined and passionate founder imparted one of the most important cornerstones of APPS: EVERY CHILD IS IMPORTANT.

APPS History

The founding of a school where everyone matters

The school has continued to grow. Starting as one small “school house” with 22 pupils in 1921, it now covers most of the suburban block that houses it. Today there are over 290 pupils, guided through their preparatory years by highly motivated, caring and professional staff.

Our history has solidified our traditions, but APPS is also a dynamic, modern school, where girls leave feeling confident in their own abilities and well prepared to meet the challenges of high school. Our girls are welcomed by high schools nationwide and we are consistently proud of the number of scholarships they win.

She instilled in her students a sense of worth and recognition – a legacy threaded through the warm fabric of our school life to this day.

Mrs Trenery was Headmistress at APPS for 25 years and laid the foundation and the tone for a happy, thoughtfully run school which continues to enjoy an excellent reputation.

Over 100 years later, APPS is still a family school that respects and upholds special traditions.

APPS’ birthday celebration is a typical example of tradition. After 100 years, we all still gather to arrange flowers and eat cake, where the youngest and oldest girl in the school light the birthday cake candle together.

Everyone enjoys a slice of birthday cake and it’s a time for vibrancy and joy – a common theme found across the APPS campus on any given day.
