Empowering potential – unlocking our girls futures

Small classes with specialist teachers ensure a deep understanding of the material and provide space for support and extension, providing a quality of excellence. Girls develop a love for learning in the calm and non-pressured approach adopted by the school.

Learning habits are formed early at APPS, as shown by their matric results at the end of their school career. APPS girls consistently showcase outstanding matric results, as seen with the matric class of 2023, where each APPS girl averaged 6 distinctions respectively.

APPS Academics

APPS is celebrated for its excellence in academics. APPS girls are highly sought-after by top independent high schools across the country, and many receive scholarships for their skills and talents in academics – as well as sports and culturals.

At the heart of APPS are our dedicated teachers, who encourage enquiring minds through innovative education, emotional support and steady guidance to achieve more and be greater.

In a school where our classes are small, teachers can tailor their lessons to cater to individual learning styles, identifying those who can be extended and those who need support.

This open dialogue, combined with the teacher’s close attention, fosters a collaborative spirit and a genuine love of learning within the classroom.

Our girls excel in all areas of study, and the school’s academic programme is designed to challenge and prepare students beyond preparatory school.

STEAM at APPS

Empowering girls to solve real-world problems

The STEAM curriculum at APPS is designed to empower our girls in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Through ‘inquiry-based’ learning and hands-on experiences, our students develop critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills.

We encourage curiosity, creativity, and innovation in our young women, inspiring them to pursue careers in STEAM fields. Our goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment that propels young girls towards success in the sciences and beyond.

APPS hosts an annual Innovation Fair – partnering with the University of the Witwatersrand, University of Johannesburg, Microsoft, ABSA and other leading organisations – to bring innovation to our girls and our community.

As of October 2023, we have an exciting and innovative new build – our very own STEAM Centre. This brand new, state-of-the-art centre boasts a tinker space, auditorium, computer lab, library (known as the research hub), and even a slide from the third storey down!
