Igniting the creative spirit
Self-expression is something that’s nurtured and encouraged at APPS, and one of our favourite ways to see it in all its vibrancy is through the arts. We love observing the quiet confidence of a girl lost in her painting, a song, a dance, a chess strategy, or – highlight of highlights – a stage performance!
At APPS, our girls have the opportunity to experience and excel in every form of artistic expression. And they do. In the last five years alone, six Cultural Scholarships have been awarded our APPS girls by top-tiered schools such as, Roedean, Kingsmead and St Teresa’s.
APPS proudly offers diverse cultural experiences for all students. In our Performance Arts curriculum, we hold annual Grade 0, junior, and senior school plays where students showcase their acting, singing, and dancing talents in professionally choreographed musical theatre performances. Our art programme further encourages creative exploration through digital art, painting, drawing, and sculpting, providing a well-rounded platform for artistic growth.

Our Music Department offers students the opportunity to learn and perform within a wide range of musical idioms. We provide a cohesive music programme within the school day that encourages all students to perform on various instruments and to develop their vocal skills through projected stage singing
Extracurricular options for solo and ensemble lessons are available across a diverse range of instruments, and those undertaking tutoring on instruments are guided through internationally accredited music syllabus and exams. We celebrate our African culture and heritage with our popular Marimba Ensembles, while our APPS Orchestra performs to high standard on special days and at festivals.
Termly class instrumental concerts, individual music concerts and our annual soirée are highlights that are celebrated.
The Speech and Drama Department prepares girls for independent Eisteddfods and festivals, as well as our school productions and all public speaking opportunities.
