Encouragement

The emphasis is on participation and the girls are taught to enjoy the game and play to the best of their ability. APPS is a small school and therefore encourages each and every child to be part of all sporting activities offered.

All girls are encouraged to experience the camaraderie and excitement of being a team player and to learn commitment, sportsmanship and pride when representing their school. The girls with sporting potential are given the opportunity to extend themselves and leave APPS skilled and competitively equipped for high school.

Our Approach

The Grade 0 girls are introduced to a wide range of skills needed to play specific sports. In Term 1 and 3, they are introduced to Swimming, and throughout the year, they participate in a range of skills which expose them to the basis of many balls sporting codes.

The Grade 1 girls progress from this, and start being exposed to specific sporting codes. The Grade 2 girls have hockey and netball added to their programme. The girls play a variety of sports in a non-competitive environment which promotes sportsmanship and athletic confidence.

From Grade 3 to Grade 7, the children participate in competitive festivals and games against other ISASA schools. We participate in tennis, hockey, netball, swimming, soccer and cross- country leagues. For Grade 3’s their matches take place on a Thursday afternoon, and From Grade 4 to Grade 7, the matches take place on a Friday afternoon.

We do attend festivals and tournaments on a Saturday morning. These dates are communicated a term in advance through our online calendar for parents.
