On 18 September, we hosted our APPS Sports Day.  It was the first time we have been able to host a live sporting event on the APPS premises since February 2020.  Flexibility in doing life differently during 2021 has often led to unexpected benefits and gains, with Sports Day being one of these in our Covid friendly format.  The energy felt by all was palpable.  We were grateful that we could have our families on the property, and the connection, pride and celebration was felt by everyone.  The essence of the APPS community was clearly enjoyed by all.

The day was separated into four sessions, starting with Grade 0 and 1, and followed by Grade 2 and 3, Grade 4 and 5, and finishing with Grade 6 and 7.  We kicked off each session with the Grade 7 girls performing their house dances, a tradition that is looked forward to since the girls arrived at APPS.

Every girl took part in a long-distance event, a sprint, and a relay.  This new format made it possible for parents and family members to watch their daughters without any distractions and lengthy waits between events.

Throughout the term, our girls have gained confidence as they discovered that with coaching and a little effort, they are able to achieve more than they first thought possible.  We are incredibly proud of each and every girl as they performed with such determination!

APPS’ spirit was visible throughout the morning and felt by all as we witnessed the sportsmanship of girls cheering for their friends and showing pride for their houses.

The results are as follows:
Session 1:  Grades 0 & 1
