The countdown to the last day of school started a few weeks ago.  It is hard to imagine that this magnificent Grade 0 year has come to an end.  It seems like just yesterday when the school year began!  We have had busy and fun-filled weeks beginning with Desirée bringing back the eggs for the girls to watch them hatch.  A big thank you, Wild and Earthly.

On Wednesday 17 November, Yaseera Ebrahim brought her bunnies to school for show and tell.  The girls were all so excited to say hello and get access to cuddles as much as the bunnies would let them.  It was great fun.

On 25 November, Dr Nokuthula Mazibuko Msimang, Tshimollo Mazibuko’s Aunt, came to read her very own book ‘Qhawe!’ about Caster Semenya to the Penguin and Flamingo girls.  This was a great way to cultivate and deepen the girls’ love of reading.  It was so wonderful to see them all enthusiastic and remaining engaged with the story.

On Monday 29 November, Grade 0 girls had their first show and swim event.  They all displayed an outstanding performance.  The spirits were very high!  Well done, to everyone for trying their best.  Thank you to all parents for attending this event and supporting the girls.  They loved having their significant others watching them.  We extend a huge thank you to all our PE specialists, Miss Pearson, Miss Harley, Miss Hartmann and Mrs Springer for their handwork and expertise during swimming lessons this year.

Once again, our Nativity Play was the highlight of the school year.  Every Flamingo and Penguin girl had her moment to shine on stage.  The girls were fabulous.  They sang and acted beautifully and displayed their great ability and confidence, showing off the amazing progress made in their first year at APPS.  The teachers all worked extremely hard together to ensure the success of the play.  I wrote the play, and the musical genies, Miss Borthwick and Mrs Carstens sprinkled their magical touch in songs and Mrs Macleod assisted with the actions.  What a wonderful team!  Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, family members and friends who supported the girls with their performances and came to watch them.

A sincere thank you goes to our class moms, Heike Evans and Kirsty Lund for all their hard work, care, commitment, and support they showed throughout the year.  It made the year run smoothly for new parents and teachers alike.  We really appreciate their amazing work and sacrifice.

We wish all parents and their children all the very best for a bright educational journey and prosperous future with APPS. Thank you for allowing us to spend such valuable time with your children.

Best wishes for a happy and relaxing summer holiday and safe travels.
