Swimming
The team swimmers were unfit at the start of the term, but this is to be expected after the December/January holiday.  Early morning training is in full swing and all swimmers have improved greatly.  The teams have held their own in the first few galas and APPS came 6th in the St Stithians night gala, which was very pleasing.  The swimmers are working very hard for the forthcoming galas and the all important Interhouse Gala.  All swimmers must be commended for their continuous efforts.

Tennis
Our tennis season began in the second week of school with our first match.  We are definitely on a ‘better wicket’ than last year as so far, only one match has been rained out.

We are practising at the UJ courts up the road from APPS and I am very pleased to report that we now take 40 girls to our training sessions.  We have a C and D team competing every week and also take extras to some of the matches.  The number of girls playing tennis not only in the team squad, but also in the class tennis sessions after school, has increased dramatically.

Our results have been varied, but at the end of the day, the standard of tennis our girls are playing is improving with every match.

We have one more tennis match after half term, until our tennis season is complete and we will then change over to the netball/hockey season.  We are looking forward to having our longer tennis season in the third team.
